Net Impact kicked off its new series of meetings on the apparel industry on Monday, February 29th. At this meeting, we started off with another CSR news team report from Agrima. She discussed the falling oil prices and its effects on the environment. Oil has fallen to $32 a barrel, which has lead to less investment in alternative energy and bigger vehicles being bought. However, this trend has also prevented the need for more new drilling. So there are both positives and negatives that have come from the falling oil prices.
Next, Megan Yoder talked about the many events that were going on during the week as a part of Sustain IU Week. Then Adam Reddigari led us on adventure into the apparel industry through a game of apparal jeopardy! Finally, we ended the meeting by taking a look at the official trailer for The True Cost, a documentary on some of the negative effects the apparel industry has had on our planet. We hope you enjoyed this meeting and look forward to seeing you next week as we continue our series on the apparel industry!
